Yoga Nidra Retreat

A Sacred Journey into Yogic Sleep and Inner Awareness

Yoga Nidra, meaning “yogic sleep” in Sanskrit, is an ancient practice rooted in the Tantric and Vedantic traditions. It is a powerful technique of conscious relaxation, guiding the practitioner into a deep state of meditative stillness while maintaining full inner awareness.

Unlike ordinary sleep, Yoga Nidra is a state where the body rests, the senses withdraw, and the mind dissolves into silence, yet the consciousness remains alert.

Yoga Nidra, often guided meditation technique that induces a state of conscious relaxation between wakefulness and sleep. Scientifically, it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to enter a profound state of physiological rest while the mind remains inwardly alert.

During Yoga Nidra, brainwave activity slows down from the active beta state to alpha and theta states, similar to those experienced during REM sleep and deep meditation. This shift allows access to the subconscious mind, where emotional imprints and stress patterns can be gently released and reprogrammed.

Yoga Nidra is not physical yoga. It is conscious deep rest.

It is a systematic guided meditation that:

  • Gently relaxes every layer of your being (body, breath, mind, emotion, soul)
  • Helps release deep-seated physical and emotional tension
  • Activates the parasympathetic nervous system (true healing state)
  • Can take you into theta brainwave states—where the subconscious becomes accessible for reprogramming and renewal.

Practiced in savasana (lying down), Yoga Nidra is accessible to all ages and bodies. It is one of the most potent tools for trauma healing, sleep restoration, anxiety relief, and spiritual expansion.

In Yoga Nidra, you do not "do" - you simply receive. And in that receiving, healing unfolds.

This Retreat is for You If You:

  •   Feel mentally or emotionally drained
  •   Struggle with anxiety, sleep issues, or chronic tension
  •   Long to reconnect with your inner stillness and intuition
  •   Prefer a non-physical yet powerful meditative experience
  •   Are ready to rest—not just your body, but your soul

Let go of doing. Surrender to being. Yoga Nidra is the sacred pause your soul has been waiting for.

Course Discipline:

1. Observe Noble Silence

Silence (no talking, gestures, or written communication) is to be maintained from the evening of the first day until the retreat concludes. This allows for deep inner reflection.

2. Remain Within the Retreat Grounds

Please do not leave the Lotus Dham property during the course. Staying within the protected retreat space is essential for continuity and safety.

3. Attend All Sessions Promptly

Participants are expected to attend every session and arrive on time. Your full commitment helps maintain the retreat’s collective rhythm and energy.

4. Disconnect to Reconnect

All communication and entertainment devices (phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, etc.) must be surrendered at the start of the course and stored securely. This digital detox is vital to your inward journey.

5. Practice Gentle Conduct

Treat fellow participants with kindness, sensitivity, and care. Avoid physical contact, loud movement, or disruptive behavior. Let your presence be peaceful and respectful.

Guidelines:

It is only possible to stay at Lotus Dham if you are attending one of our residential retreats or are an established meditation practitioner.

Lotus Dham is a monastic meditation centre, not a guesthouse. To preserve the atmosphere of silence, stillness, and inner reflection, we kindly ask all retreatants and visitors to honor the following guidelines:

1. Respect All Life

Please do not intentionally harm or kill any living being — including insects. Practicing compassion begins with the smallest actions.

2. Be Honest and Sincere

Speak truthfully and with clarity. Avoid lying or deception. This becomes natural in a space of inner stillness and noble silence.

3. Refrain from Intoxicants

Alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes are not permitted. (If needed, a designated smoking area is available, though we encourage complete abstinence during your stay.)

4. Maintain Sacred Silence

During retreats, silence is to be observed in meditation halls, dormitories, and quiet zones. Refrain from playing music, singing, or loud conversation. Move and speak with mindfulness.

5. Dress Modestly and Respectfully

Please avoid clothing that is tight, revealing, or short above the knee. Modesty supports inward focus and mutual respect.
